Amazing wine and very different ! – one of the best summer reds…Very dark ruby in colour……

We enjoyed it very much……a very good Cabernet franc, spicy and with lots of berries.

Saumur Champigny produces some of the best red wines from the Cabernet Franc grape found anywhere in the world. The prestigious AC lies on the southern banks of the mighty Loire river, where the ‘tuffeau’ soils bring out the most intense violet aromas and cherry flavours.

Domaine de la Croix de Chaintres captures the essence of Saumur Champigny. The wines from Fredrick Filliatreau’s estate are highly rated for their supple, fine textured, medium-bodied palate, coupled with an elegant long finish. With his brother-in-law Jean-Michel Bercetche, Fredrik has produced a wine that matches perfectly with delicate soft cheese, lamb, stews, casseroles or game dishes, poultry or even flavour some fish!
