The abbreviation O.P.I stands for Odontorium Products, Inc. Originally it was a dental supplier based in Los Angeles, CA. The company was purchased in 1981 by George Schaeffer, who refocused its direction to nail polish industry and abbreviated the name to O.P.I.
George Schaeffer originally conceived O.P.I nail lacquers during his scientific research. Schaeffer was attempting to create a long lasting and hardwearing lacquer for teeth, which would produce a gleaming, white smile with little side effects and maximum results. This tooth lacquer was developed to never chip and remain constant in colour.In the process of creating this revolutionary product Schaeffer realised the potential of his new product and started to redevelop the lacquer to be a conditioning nail varnish with long-lasting, chip resistant potential unlike any other available on the market. The product he created also took colours like a dream, allowing Schaeffer to develop a huge range of shades for his new nail lacquer range that simply was unbelievable.
I am absolutely in love with this brand. I apply two layers and the colour and gloss is really nice. They are really high quality products . This is first brand on my number one have list. O.P.I nail polishes are awesome. They last and don’t chip.
